Earth Hour took place on 31 March – with the help of WWF Scotland and you, our players.
Last Saturday, thousands of people across
Scotland turned off their lights for one hour at 8.30pm for Earth Hour. Supporters laid out
over 3,000 candles spelling “Climate Action Now!” in massive letters on
Edinburgh Castle esplanade just before the big switch off, creating beautiful
and striking images.
Meanwhile, communities throughout Scotland took part in
local events. These included
star gazing in Biggar,
outdoor theatre in Falkirk,
a human-powered cinema in Kirkcaldy and
a nocturnal wildlife walk on Skye.
Overwhelmed with the support of People's Postcode Lottery's players, Dr Richard Dixon, Director of WWF Scotland, sent on a letter of thanks to all our players. Read the letter from WWF Scotland (pdf, 23KB).
Plans are already underway for
Earth Hour 2013, to make it a another brilliant success. Find out more at www.wwfscotland.org.uk/earthhour.
