Lucky players in County Durham set to celebrate a £2 Million win
People's Postcode Lottery players will be celebrating in County Durham this week as it has been announced that the October Postcode Millions has landed in SR8 3. Lucky winners in this postcode area are set to share a £2 Million prize pot.
Winners will discover just how much they have won at a special celebration on the grounds of Shotton Hall, Peterlee on Saturday 2nd November. Those playing with the full winning postcode, which will be revealed at the event, will walk away with the lion's share of the prize.
People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador Judie McCourt said; "As
a County Durham girl myself, I can't wait to go along to Shotton Hall to hand
out some big cheques. Postcode Millions are always really lovely community
events and I want to wish all the players the very best of luck. I might even
see a few familiar faces!"
It's not just winners like these who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. To date, our players have raised over £32.2 Million for good causes and charities throughout Britain. One supported charity is Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres, which has received more than £2.6 Million. Earlier this year,
Maggie's opened a new centre in Newcastle at Freeman Hospital which is a short
walk from the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. This was built as part of the 'Joy
of Living' campaign.
Maggie's Chief Executive Laura Lee said; "People's Postcode
Lottery Postcode Millions events are always incredibly exciting and I am
delighted the next one is happening in County Durham – an area supported by one
of our newest Centres, Maggie's Newcastle, which opened in May.
"Players of People's Postcode Lottery have played a vital
role in ensuring that Maggie's Centres across the UK can continue to provide our unique programme
of emotional, practical and social support to people with cancer, as well as
their friends and families. It is wonderful to see those players in County
Durham winning something in return."
We will be revealing more details regarding the Postcode Millions party, including the minimum amount won, in the coming days.
