On 25 October, Children 1ST wrote to People's Postcode Lottery to once again thank our players for all their support. They also introduced us to their Preventing Violence Against Children campaign:
Dear Players of the People's Postcode Lottery,
I am writing today to say thank you to all of you for supporting CHILDREN 1ST by playing the People's Postcode Lottery. A recent payment of £170,574 from the People's Postcode Lottery brings the total that you - the players - have raised for the work of CHILDREN 1ST to an astonishing £1,381,161.
This has been a difficult year financially for everyone and charities are no exception. We have had to respond to a much more difficult environment in which to raise voluntary funds and at the same time face reductions in public service funding. Your support is incredibly important to us and helps in so many ways ...
You provide lonely and isolated children with a trusted adult befriender to talk to when times are tough
You help children and their families move on past the trauma of abuse
You give troubled teens the support they need to become happy and productive young adults
The players of the People's Postcode Lottery have done so much for Scotland's vulnerable children and families that we're hoping that you'll consider helping us in another way - by signing our Preventing Violence Against Children pledge.
Far too many children in Scotland have to cope every day with the effects of violence in their homes and communities, robbing them of their happiness, safety and wellbeing. This autumn, CHILDREN 1ST is asking our supporters across Scotland to help us send out a very strong message that violence against children and young people is unjustifiable, unacceptable and preventable.
