Young people in the Yorkshire Dales are learning new skills that will help them find work – all thanks to players like you.
With money raised by People’s Postcode Lottery players our charity partner, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT), runs Dales Countryside Trainees Schemes.
As part of their training, eight young people spent the day fence building with rangers from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
The 100 metres long section of fence at Church End Farm in Kirkby Malham surrounds land which will soon be planted with native trees as part of YDMT’s People and DALES project. The post and wire fence will help to protect the young saplings from grazing livestock.
The trainees are six months into a trainee scheme in environmental and countryside management.
As well as attending Craven College part-time, they are also learning practical skills at work placements across the Dales.
Players have raised over £225,332 for Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. That money is helping the charity do even more to support people and nature in the Yorkshire Dales.
