One of the People’s Postcode Lottery charity partners, Daisy Chain, is going from strength to strength – and it’s all thanks to you, our players!
The charity, which is based near Stockton-on-Tees and provides respite care and support to families who have children with autism, has just received the latest grant cheque – for almost £31,000!
The amount was boosted by Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt who had a go at persuading two former North East footballing legends - Bernie Slaven and Micky Horswill – to tackle the Great North Run to raise further funds.
The cheque was gratefully accepted by Mat Simpson the Daisy Chain Project Manager who said:
“This sort of regular support is a huge benefit to the desperate families who come to us for help. As well as ensuring we have the sort of staff on hand who can help them, it also means we can provide treats like visits to Lightwater Valley. Special days out for the whole family - with our staff in support - so they can just let their hair down and enjoy themselves without worrying about their children.”
With the brand new Day Centre set to open shortly at the charity’s base, Calf Fallow Farm, Daisy Chain will soon be able to offer an even wider spectrum of support and respite care.
Anyone who would like to find out more about the array of help on offer should ring Daisy Chain on 01642-531248.
