Missing People was facing a real problem. The charity, which provides a lifeline to the 250,000 people who go missing every year and the families left behind, was finding that 1 in 4 calls they received could not be answered. This was due to lack of resources.

To address the problem, Missing People has plans in place for radical growth in the next three years. A new website is at the centre of its strategic plans. The People’s Postcode Lottery has provided Missing People with key funding for this project and others, raising over £796,000 for the charity to date.

New website features will help Missing People and their families

In addition to making the Missing People website easier for users to search and navigate, the integration of geo-tagging and mapping through Twitter and Facebook will offer a proactive way of using social media to help find people. The new site will also feature support forums for the families of those who are missing, and a real-time notification feature for updates on the search.

An independent charity founded in 2007, Missing People relies on donations from the public in order to exist. People’s Postcode Lottery is very happy to be supporting this important charity.
