People’s Postcode Lottery charity partner Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) plans to plant 1 million new trees in the Yorkshire Dales by winter to promote woodland restoration.
David Sharrod, Director of YDMT, explains: “Woodland restoration is not just about planting trees. In the Yorkshire Dales it’s also about restoring a lost part of our natural landscape. The Dales now has less broadleaf woodland than any other national park.”
One company that is helping YDMT to help remedy this situation is Otley-based stationery manufacturer, Sinclairs, which recently donated £2,000 to support YDMT’s ongoing woodland restoration programme. The money was raised from sales of Sinclair’s new range of forest–friendly FSC notebooks and pads.
The donation from Sinclairs will help plant around 500 new ash, oak, rowan, alder and other native trees. You can find out more by calling the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust on 015242 51002 or visiting www.ydmt.org
To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised £147,258.80 for Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust.
