Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £30 Million for charities and good causes since its launch in 2008.

The money has made a massive difference to hundreds of communities throughout Britain. Funding has been awarded to small community associations as well as national charities.

Jo Bucci, Managing Director of People's Postcode Lottery, said: “Raising over £30 Million for charities and good causes across Great Britain is an incredible milestone and it's all thanks to the support of players of People's Postcode Lottery. I've seen at firsthand the tremendous impact our players have on good causes the length and breadth of Great Britain, from supporting major charities like Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres to small-scale local community initiatives that deliver a big impact.

People's Postcode Lottery has enjoyed phenomenal growth over the last 18 months and we are confident with the help of our players we can build on this success and continue to deliver even more support to charities, grass roots organisations and other good causes across Great Britain.

One of the charities supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery is Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres. Maggie's build innovative places across the country that help support anyone affected by cancer. The centres are designed by some of the world's best architects and are warm, friendly and informal and located near or at treatment hospitals.

Maggie's Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager, Gemma Branney, said, “Maggie's is incredibly grateful to have received £2.5 Million from players in the last five years, funds which have been vital in ensuring we keep the doors of all 16 Maggie's Centres open and can continue to offer our unique programme of support to people with cancer as well as their friends and families.

It is thanks to players of People's Postcode Lottery that Maggie's team of experts can provide people with vital support at an incredibly difficult time of their lives.”

As well as passing the £30 Million milestone for charities and good causes, People's Postcode Trust, the grant-giving trust funded by players, has awarded its 1,000th grant.

Charities awarded much needed funds this year include:

  • The Little Owls Pre School, based in Reading, who aim to provide opportunities for each child to develop physically, mentally and socially

  • ECAS, based in Edinburgh, who are a voluntary organisation dedicated to giving friendly and practical help for physically disabled people and

  • the St John Cymru Wales, based in Cardiff, is a first aid charity who teach lifesaving methods and providing first aid products to the workplace, communities and schools.

People's Postcode Lottery, is part of Novameda, the third largest charitable private donor in the world according to British business-focused newspaper City AM.
