Public urged to report Aberdeen squirrel sightings by text
If you are in Aberdeen and you spot a squirrel, Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) want to hear from you.
Our charity partner SWT has teamed up with Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels to launch ‘Text-a-Squirrel’. This survey will help monitor the number of red and grey squirrels living in Aberdeen.
They are urging anyone in the city who spots a squirrel to text in their sightings. The scheme was first launched last year as a two week pilot.
Hollie Walker, the North East Scotland Project Officer for Saving Scotland's Red Squirrels, said:
“Most people carry a mobile phone when they are out and about, so we hope that the ease of texting will encourage more people to report their sighting when they spot a red or grey squirrel. “
If you see a red or grey squirrel in Aberdeen between now
and 25 March, you can report your sightings to SWT. Just text
the word RED or GREY
the street or postcode where it was seen and
your name
to 88802.
You can also report squirrel sightings anywhere in Scotland on the Scottish Wildlife Trust website.
Our players have raised over £1.4 million for Scottish Wildlife Trust. This money is helping to support schemes like Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels.
