26 July 2010
On 26 July, Anne Houston, Chief Executive of Children 1st, wrote to thank our players:
Please accept our warmest thanks to all at the People's Postcode Lottery and your players for your wonderful donation of £165,074. This significant sum will allow CHILDREN 1st to continue to support vulnerable children and young people in Scotland who live in desperately difficult circumstances. To date People's Postcode Lottery has achieved £1,498,587 which is an incredible achievement. We are very grateful for your continued commitment to support our services across Scotland and giving children a chance of a brighter future.
Needless to say, the impact of your support on our work with vulnerable children is enormous. With help from the People's Postcode Lottery we are able to provide services from the Black Isle to the Borders in over 43 locations helping children to overcome the trauma of abuse and neglect and move on with their lives.
We have had a busy year with ParentLine Scotland providing a service to over 3,000 callers where the main issues discussed related to family relationships, behaviour and discipline. One encouraging statistic is the increase in male callers from 19% to 23%. ParentLine continues to develop its service launching an email service which went live on 1st June 2010.
In the last few months we have been busy spreading the word about our work and would encourage all of your players to visit our website and watch the animation which helps to illustrate what we do and who we help. Huge thanks to the People's Postcode Lottery for helping us to ra ise our profile with both players and the wider public.
Finally I am delighted to report that in this year CHILDREN 1" has provided help and support to 5922 children, young people and parents/carers which excluding callers to our Helplines is an increase of nearly 900. We simply could not do this without the support of the People's Postcode Lottery and your players, thank you.
With many thanks,
