Chelsea Clinton to speak at People's Postcode Lottery's Charity Gala

On the evening of Wednesday 29th January, Chelsea Clinton will join 500 guests at People's Postcode Lottery's Charity Gala 2014 at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. The event celebrates a record year for the charity lottery and significant growth in funds for good causes in 2013.

Since the Lottery was first launched in Britain in 2008, players have supported over 1,166 charities, grass roots organisations and other good causes to the tune of £35.6 Million. In the last 12 months alone People's Postcode Lottery has grown by a phenomenal 61%, which means that players of the Lottery are now helping to generate in excess of £1 Million each month for a wide range of charitable causes.

Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of The Clinton Foundation, will be delivering remarks at the Gala for an audience of leading political figures, representatives of supported charities, members of the media and other distinguished guests.

The theme of this year's Charity Gala is 'one world' focusing on partnerships between Britain and Africa. The reason for this is that 2014 marks the first year that players of People's Postcode Lottery will be supporting projects internationally. As part of this, The Clinton Foundation is set to be announced as the first beneficiary of an amazing £500,000 in funding to assist their mission to improve global health, strengthen economic growth of farming communities and promote the protection of the environment.

In her speech, Chelsea Clinton is expected to warmly thank players of the People's Postcode Lottery for their generous support, discuss her personal experience working at The Clinton Foundation and the organisation's collaboration with Anchor Farm in Malawi where players' funds will be channelled. Through this project over 21,000 farmers have already benefited from support, training and expertise to increase productivity and income five times over, resulting in better standards of living and opportunities for them and their dependant families.

Commenting on her upcoming attendance at People's Postcode Lottery's Charity Gala, Chelsea Clinton said, "People's Postcode Lottery has been a steadfast partner of The Clinton Foundation in its work around the globe, helping people live their best life story. The Charity Gala is a wonderful opportunity to share the great work we have done together and talk about the exciting work ahead."

Annemiek Hoogenboom, Country Director of People's Postcode Lottery, said, "The Charity Gala is always the highlight of the year for People's Postcode Lottery and the good causes our players help support. What could be more special than celebrating the wonderful successes of the charities supported by our players in 2013, while looking ahead to the opportunities in 2014.

"Welcoming Chelsea Clinton to address our Charity Gala is a real honour and I can't wait to experience what will be a truly exciting and engaging evening."
