2016 is off to a fantastic start for two lucky neighbours in Dartmouth who have scooped £25,000 each after winning the Saturday Street Prize today.

Michael Prettyjohns and Rita Mann, who both live in winning postcode TQ6 9LJ, celebrated the good news together when they were presented with their cheques by People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson.

Michael, a delivery driver who has lived on Davis Road for 19 years, said, "I've only ever won £10 before so this is just amazing. What better way to start 2016 than to be able to pay off the mortgage. I'll also have to squeeze in a holiday with my wife Tonia."

Rita, a Healthcare Assistant for the NHS, says she'll raise a glass to People's Postcode Lottery this New Year. Rita said, "I've lived here for 17 years and it's nice to share this experience with Michael. I just wish other people on the street had played People's Postcode Lottery too. I only signed up to play two months ago so I was gobsmacked when I got this cheque. I'd love a new car in 2016 and a family holiday to Menorca!"

People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said, "This is how you first foot someone in the New Year. What a fantastic prize to give away to Michael and Rita and we wish them both a brilliant 2016."

People's Postcode Lottery players have raised over £95.3 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. A locally funded project near Dartmouth is the Totnes Allotment Association, which received £1,559 to install a solar-powered water pump at their new 2-acre allotment site.
