Street Prize

Currency For Kimberley

11 July 2015 - NG16 2GR - Kimberley - £25,000
Our lucky Kimberley winners with their whopping Street Prize cheques

Three lucky players in Kimberley have together won a whopping £75,000, as their postcode, NG16 2GR, was revealed as this week's Saturday Street Prize winner.

Lynn Ogelsby, Stephen Minchin and Don Boulton were all shocked to each receive a cheque for £25,000.

The win was extra special for Don, 67, as he was just getting ready to jet off to Majorca on holiday. "I couldn't believe it when I pulled the cheque out of the golden envelope," he said. "I'm glad I didn't go on holiday a day earlier."

Don will have plenty of time to decide how to spend the money as he relaxes on holiday with his wife Josephine. "It works out really well, as my birthday is when we get home," he said. "I might organise something for the whole family while we're away. I do have one son and two grandchildren to spoil."

Lynn Ogelsby, 63, was relaxing at home on her day off from her job as a Customer Service Assistant when she was surprised by People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt. "It was such a surprise to receive my cheque," she said. "It was really amazing to win with my neighbours too."

Lynn has one thing on her mind after winning. "I'd like to retire," she said. "I've been thinking about it for a while, and now I just might be able to."

As well as finishing work, Lynn would love to book a holiday with her family. "A Mediterranean cruise is on my wish list," she said. "I'd love to go away with my husband Barry and my daughter and her family."

A grandmother of 14, Lynn was extra shocked as she has only been playing People's Postcode Lottery since April this year. "I can't believe I've won anything after only three months of playing," she said.

Our final winner, Stephen, 54, almost missed the team from People's Postcode Lottery when they called to present him with his cheque. "I was just finishing up at work, but my wife Janet phoned me to tell me to hurry up and get home," he laughed. "It was a wonderful surprise; I'm still shaking."

Stephen, who works as a maintenance fitter, is thinking about a family holiday with his win. "We have two children and four grandchildren, and it would be lovely to organise a family trip to Cornwall."

Lynn, Stephen and Don aren't the only group in the the area to have received a cheque. Charity Groundwork Greater Nottingham was awarded funds for its 'Dig-In, Stay Out' programme. 'Dig-In, Stay Out' aims to provide support, training and employment opportunities to young current and ex-offenders in the Nottingham area. The charity received £7,358 to purchase tools and machinery for horticulture training and rehabilitation programmes.

Groundwork Greater Nottingham is just one of the many organisations across Great Britain and internationally to have received funding from players, who have raised more than £75.6 Million for charities and good causes.
