People's Postcode Lottery winner Jane, who won an amazing £30,000 in January, was surprised to hear a second knock at her door.
This time, however, our ambassador Matt Johnson arrived at Jane's home in Rhos to deliver a special video message all the way from Mozambique.
The message was sent by Gordane and Suhura, who were able to have vital cataract surgery thanks to funding from our players.
Gordane and Suhura have been married for over 40 years. The husband and wife had been unable to see each other properly due to their failing eyesight.
A Special Message
The message was recorded by charity Sightsavers which has received over £3 Million from our players. The support has enabled the Sightsavers team, working in some of the world's poorest countries, to treat conditions which can cause blindness.
The film documents Gordane and Suhura as they head to hospital, capturing the emotional moment when Suhura is able to see her husband for the first time in years. Later, the couple personally thank Jane for supporting the charity as one of our players.
Cataract surgery is a straightforward procedure and is commonplace in the UK. But in Mozambique, older people affected by cataracts may lose their vision due to a lack of medical facilities. It is estimated that 75% of cases of blindness in the country could be successfully treated or prevented entirely. Cataract surgery costs only £50.
Jane said, "I was naturally delighted when Matt first arrived on my doorstep with a cheque for £30,000 to tell me I was a winner.
"It was great to see Matt again and hear more about the work players of People's Postcode Lottery like me help fund in Mozambique.
"Gordane and Suhura are so obviously in love and it was wonderful to watch as Gordane realises Surhara can see him again for the first time in years."
Matt Johnson said, "The film of Gordane and Suhura seeing each other again is incredibly moving and I have a lump in my throat each time I watch it.
"It was such a pleasure to show the video to Jane and talk to her about the amazing work charities like Sightsavers can do thanks to players' support.
"People's Postcode Lottery was created to raise money for good causes and that means charities win as well as players like Jane."
