The National Trust protects and cares for places so that people and nature can thrive. Established in 1895, the Trust looks after over 780 miles of the nation's coastline, over 500 historic sites, and huge swathes of countryside and green spaces.
Bringing Communities Together
2020 is the 125th birthday of the National Trust. The National Trust founder's mission was based on a human need for nature. 125 years on, that mission continues to drive everything the charity does. Throughout this milestone year and beyond, the National Trust will promote the benefits of nature to health and happiness. This includes encouraging people to spend more time outdoors and bringing communities together to protect and enhance the places that matter to them.
Players of People's Postcode Lottery have been supporting the National Trust since 2013, raising over £2 Million to date. Thanks to this superb support, the National Trust has been able to look after nature, beauty and history for the past 125 years.
Beautiful, Natural Environments
Our players support two vital areas of the National Trust's work, including its:
- Nature conservation programme - helping to restore a healthy, beautiful and natural environment, and
- Heritage Open Days - England's largest festival of history and culture taking place every September, offering free access to over 5,700 events
In 2020, players are supporting the National Trust with £450,000 towards its nature conservation programme and £300,000 towards Heritage Open Days. Players will provide much needed support of the British countryside in the form of Riverlands, an exciting programme of work to see five of the UK's most precious rivers revived, alongside support for two urgent nature projects in Pembrokeshire and the Shropshire Hills.
