Magic Breakfast to reach more hungry children thanks to players
March 14th, 2014
Magic Breakfast, the leading school food charity that provides healthy breakfasts to children in deprived areas, is delighted to announce that it will be developing its reach in the North of England. This expansion will give 30 new and current schools a higher level of support to ensure every hungry child has access to a free breakfast.
This has been made possible as a result of a £100,000 award from players of People's Postcode Lottery. Magic Breakfast and the children of Rosebank Primary School in Leeds thanked our players at their breakfast club this morning (14th March).
Carmel McConnell, Founder of Magic Breakfast, said "The support from players of People's Postcode Lottery is going to make a huge difference to our small charity and allow us to reach an extra 1,500 children every school day. I can't thank them enough.
"We are hearing from our partner schools in the North how families are really struggling and parents are becoming increasing anxious as benefits are cut and the cost of living keeps on rising. This support is going to transform our presence in the North and help us to achieve our mission of no child coming to school too hungry to learn."
Clara Govier, Head of Charitiesat People's Postcode Lottery, added, "We are delighted to start supporting Magic Breakfast as the simple gift of a healthy breakfast makes a positive difference to thousands of children every morning. We would like to thank our players for helping to give these children fuel for learning."Return to news archive
