Drummers raise money for charity partner Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust

Community drumming band Batala Lancaster took on an extreme fund-raising challenge this month, combining the iconic Three Peaks Challenge with a passion for samba drumming. Their efforts raised money for People's Postcode Lottery supported charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust(YDMT).

Nine band members took on the 25 mile trek over the hills of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The already challenging route was made far tougher as the team carried their large and heavy (7kg) drums with them. The 14 hour trek pushed their stamina and endurance to the limit.

Meanwhile, other avid Batala drummers teamed up with YDMT to run a drumming workshop in Clapham village hall. A group of local children were given the opportunity to learn the basics of samba drumming.
