Last week, TV personality Stephen Jardine popped down to the Bawsinch and Duddingston reserve to see how funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery is helping run the Scottish Wildlife Trust-owned reserve.

This beautiful site in the centre of Edinburgh boasts incredible wildlife, and is just one of 100 sites that the Scottish Wildlife Trust take care of. Stephen explains why he likes working with the charity: “I like working with the Scottish Wildlife Trust because they have a unique understanding of wildlife in Scotland and they understand what they have to do to protect it and how to get the people of Scotland to make the most of it and get involved with conserving wildlife.

Stephen said: “The £2.25 Million that has been contributed by People's Postcode Lottery is absolutely crucial because it allows the funding of rangers who are out here every single day in habitats like this protecting and helping the public engage with the habitat.

He also explains how the rangers are involved in education - in making sure that people know where to find these special places if they want to spot some great wildlife, and how to interact with it appropriately.

Postcode Lottery players have raised an incredible £2,259,472 for the Scottish Wildlife Trust, and Stephen has urged them to “Keep playing!” The Scottish Wildlife Trust is just one of many great causes which our players support. So sign up today for the chance to win big cash prizes and help fund great projects.
