Wildlife Trusts Wales Goes Wild For Funding
Wildlife Trust Wales welcomes cheque for £80,470
August 2nd, 2011
Young nature lovers in Brecon took time out from exploring the great outdoors to help the Wildlife Trusts Wales (WTW) celebrate a welcome cash windfall. As ever, it’s all thanks to you, the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
A group of intrepid children were enjoying an overnight Wild Camp organised by the Brecknock Wildlife Trust. These youthful explorers accepted a cheque for £80,470. This is the the total raised to date by players of the lottery for the WTW. And it is sure to be the first of many cash injections.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for their support,” said Rachel Sharp, Chief Executive of WTW. “Their funding is helping the WTW enhance our 230 nature reserves across Wales and to protect endangered species such as the red squirrel.”
The Wild Camp is a great example of how the WTW funding will be used. The youngsters got to grips with learning how to set up a tent, prepare a camp fire, and even how to pole lathe. Quite inspiring stuff!
“The People’s Postcode Lottery enables our work to inspire young people about the wildlife on their doorstep,” continued Rachel.
Wildlife Trusts Wales is the fourth charity in Wales which People's Postcode Lottery players regularly support.Return to news archive
