Sporting role models and the environment of sport raises the aspirations of young people. Through a range of personal development programmes run across the country, every one of the charity's young people facing disadvantage receives mentoring and support from a world-class athlete.
There are over one million 16-25 year olds who are not in education, employment or training, which is nearly one in five of all young people. Since the Trust was founded in 2008, they have reached over 300,000 young people across the country, with their 'Get on Track' programme empowering them into employment, education and training.
Every programme is run by an experienced Athlete Mentor, who have seen the highs and lows of world-class competition and know what it's like to overcome adversity and still have the will to succeed. These athletes make the most of their skills and experience to help and improve young people's lives.
You can help the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust to improve the lives of young people through sport. For more information, visit their website http://www.damekellyholmestrust.org. To help support their work, sign up to play People's Postcode Lottery.
