The National Trust looks after special places, forever, for everyone.
The National trust is a charity founded in 1895 to preserve the nations heritage and green spaces for everyone to enjoy. More than 120 years later these values are still at the heart of everything they do. They look after 248,000ha of land, 780 miles of coastline, 8 World Heritage sites and over 1 Million artefacts, more than 500 historic houses, castles and industrial monuments, parks and nature reserves.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have been supporting the National Trust since 2013, raising over £4,475,000 to date. They want to say a massive thank you to all players for supporting their mission to look after special places for everyone, for ever.
Heritage Open Days
Thanks to the ongoing support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. Every September, thousands of local people organise free events to celebrate special places, giving audiences a chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences.
Blossom Together has created new, beautiful and useful green spaces to give communities more access to nature. The National Trust hope these natural places will give people more space for hope and reflection as we move forward from the pandemic and the chance to celebrate the beauty of spring year after year. In 2021 players supported Blossom projects in Newcastle, Nottingham and Plymouth and in 2022/23 are supporting projects in Birmingham and Coventry.
In 2022/23, players of People’s Postcode Lottery are supporting Changing Chalk, a partnership project being led by the National Trust to connect nature, people and heritage in and around the South Downs to restore lost landscapes and habitats.
