People’s Postcode Lottery “Win a Weekend Getaway to Edinburgh International Book Festival” Competition OFFICIAL RULES
The People’s Postcode Lottery “Win a Weekend Getaway to Edinburgh International Book Festival” Competition (the “Competition”), begins 13th June 2017 and ends 18th June 2017 at 23:30 (the “Entry Period.”) No claims can be made outside of these dates. Entry into the Competition is acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
The Postcode Lottery Ltd. and Edinburgh International Book Festival are giving away a Weekend Getaway for one winner and their guest. The prize package includes:
- A 2-night stay for two for the dates of 11th & 12th August 2017 in a junior suite at The Rutland Hotel, a 5-minute walk from Charlotte Square Gardens, the home of the Edinburgh International Book Festival. The Rutland is one of Edinburgh’s finest boutique hotels; each of its rooms comes with the latest in-room technology including wireless high-speed Internet access (Wi-Fi), apple device docking stations, fully stocked mini-bar, GHD hair straighteners, in-room safe and wall-mounted flat screen colour TV.
- 2 tickets to the Edinburgh International Book Festival opening night party which takes place in the famous Charlotte Square Gardens on the evening of Saturday 12th August. Enjoy a glass (or two!) of prosecco, while you mingle with the authors appearing at this year’s Festival and enjoy the live music.
- Two tickets to FOUR (4) Book Festival events of your choice (8 tickets in total). You can pick from events taking place on Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th August in the Main Theatre or Studio Theatre venues. Authors appearing on the opening weekend in these venues include Paula Hawkins, Will Self, Limmy, Clare Balding, Anthony Horowitz, Carol Ann Duffy, and Paddy Ashdown.
Tickets for the opening night party and your choice of events will be available for collection at the Book Festival Box Office in Charlotte Square Gardens from 10am on Saturday 12th August.
ENTRY TERMS AND RESTRICTIONS
The apartment stay is for two nights: Friday 11th & Saturday 12th August – please make sure you are available on these dates before entering the competition. The dates of the stay are not transferable.
Travel to Edinburgh is not included in the prize.
Event tickets included in the prize must be chosen by 30th July by contacting Helen Chomczuk (firstname.lastname@example.org; 0131 718 5637). Your choice of events must be selected from the Book Festival’s adult programme, and must take place on 12th and 13th August in the Baillie Gifford Main Theatre or Studio Theatre.
Tickets for your chosen events and for the opening night party must be collected from the Book Festival Box Office (located in Charlotte Square Gardens) on 12th August – they will be available for collection from 10am on the day.
Participants are limited to one (1) Competition entry per entrant (i.e., the same individual may not enter the Competition multiple times by using different names/email addresses or entering via multiple entry methods, e.g., online and mail-in, etc.) No entrant will be eligible to win more than one prize.
All entries (mail-in and electronic) become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. No software-generated, robotic, programmed, script, macro or other automated online entries are permitted and will result in disqualification of all such entries. Sponsor reserves the right to reject any entries in the Competition or any entrant's activities associated therewith that may be deemed, by Sponsor’s sole discretion, to violate these Official Rules, any policies or guidelines established by Sponsor that govern participation in the Competition, or are counter to the integrity or spirit of the Competition (including, without limitation, gaming, bad faith, unsportsmanlike conduct, or otherwise) as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
Employees, contractors, or re-sellers of The Postcode Lottery Limited, the immediate families of such employees or contractors, together with those whom such persons are domiciled, are not eligible to enter or win this competition. Employees of Edinburgh International Book Festival and their immediate family are not eligible to enter.

SELECTION OF WINNERS
The winner of the above-listed prize will be determined solely by a random selection from all valid entries. The winner will be contacted by Facebook private message and must supply their postal mailing address, phone number, and email to receive their prize. Only the winner will be notified, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
If prize notification is returned as undeliverable, or the potential winner is ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, another entrant will be randomly selected. Alternate winners will be notified by phone or e-mail (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion). If prize notification is returned as undeliverable, or alternate winners are ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, no prize will be awarded.
GENERAL PRIZE RESTRICTIONS
Each winner is responsible for any expenses, costs and fees related to the acceptance and use of any prize not specified herein as being awarded. Prizes may not be transferred nor assigned by any winner. Prizes must be accepted in their entirety or not at all. No cash or other substitution may be made, except by the Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute the prize in whole or in part with another prize of comparable or greater value, or cash, if the intended prize is not available for any reason as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Winners will be responsible for all applicable taxes.
In the event that a potential prize winner is disqualified for any reason, that prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate. Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use winner's name, hometown, likeness, statements and other personally identifiable information for promotional, advertising and marketing purposes in any media throughout the world without additional prize, incentive, consideration, consent or review; and upon request, each such winner will provide written consent to such use.
All prize details are at Sponsor's sole discretion and Sponsor expressly disclaims any responsibility or liability for injury or loss to any person or property relating to the delivery and/or subsequent use and redemption of any prize.
The Sponsor makes no representations or warranties (express or implied) concerning the appearance, safety or performance of any prize. Sponsor shall not be liable for nor replace any lost, damaged or stolen element of any prize.
Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, stolen, inaccurate, misdirected, delayed, illegible or undelivered entries or for lost or stolen entry boxes; or for failures, difficulties, or other errors of any kind whether human, printing, typographical or mechanical relating to or in connection with this Competition, including, without limitation, errors which may occur in connection with the administration of the Competition, the cancellation of any events, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prize or in any Competition-related materials, and may modify or cancel the Competition for any reason or no reason in its sole discretion without liability or obligation. Where permitted by law, winner grants to The Postcode Lottery Ltd., its subsidiaries, affiliates and those acting pursuant to their authority, the right to print, publish, broadcast and use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the world wide web, at any time or times, the winners' and participants' names, portraits, pictures, voices, likenesses, the identity of their city county of residence and biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration.
The Postcode Lottery Ltd. and its agents, representatives, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotions and fulfilment agencies and legal advisors are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (1) lost or late, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, entries; (2) problems caused by telephonic, electronic, hardware, software programs, networks, the internet, viruses, worms, Trojan horses or computer malfunctions (failures, errors or difficulties of any manner); (3) failed, incomplete or delayed computer transmission; or (4) any condition caused by events beyond control of The Postcode Lottery Ltd. that may cause the Competition to be disrupted or corrupted. These Terms are governed by the laws of England, Wales and Scotland. The Entrant agrees that the Courts of England, Wales and Scotland are to have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any claim against The Postcode Lottery Ltd. arising out of a dispute relating to these Rules. The Entrant further agrees that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connection with this Competition or any prizes awarded, other than the administration of the Competition or the determination of winners, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (ii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Competition, but in no event legal fees; and (iii) under no circumstances will the Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for and the entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.

IS NOT RESPONSIBLE IF ANY PRIZE CANNOT BE AWARDED DUE TO TRAVEL CANCELLATIONS, DELAYS OR INTERRUPTIONS DUE TO ACTS OF GOD, ACTS OF WAR, NATURAL DISASTERS, WEATHER OR TERRORISM.
