We might only be three days into 2019, but it's already proving to be a very lucky year for two Leeds neighbours! They've picked up an incredible £30,000 prize each - all thanks to their postcode.
The players scooped the whopping prize when LS9 6PP was announced as the winner of today's Street Prize.
One of our winners, Margaret, works at a local hospital. She screamed with joy when she discovered exactly how much she'd won. Margaret said, "Oh my goodness, this can't be true! I wasn't expecting this at all, I thought it might be £1,000 - what a great shock!"
The win was extra-special for Margaret, who has three grown-up children, as she landed the cash on her birthday. She added, "What a good present – I'm going to spoil myself with a special birthday treat."
As well as a birthday present to herself, Margaret has a few more ideas on how she'll spend her windfall. She said: "I think I'll get some renovations done to the house and I'd love to go on a cruise to the Mediterranean with my husband Naison."
Margaret has played the lottery for over four years. She said, "It's great so many charities benefit and you know you are helping so many people who are in need."
A Street Prize winning postcode is being announced every day throughout our December draws, which run until January 4th 2019. Those who play with the winning postcode net themselves a whopping £30,000 for every ticket that they play with.
Offering her congratulations to today's winners, Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I certainly think we've given Margaret a birthday to remember and I couldn't be more thrilled for her and our other Leeds winner. I don't think there's any better way to start the New Year than with an extra £30,000 in your bank account – well done all!"
With 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised £371 Million for over 5,500 good causes across Great Britain and internationally. This prize was part of a draw promoted by Postcode Earth Trust. One good cause close to our winners that players have supported is The Hunslet Club, which received £18,932 last year to run dance camps during school holidays for local children.
