One player in Godmanchester was delighted when his postcode, PE29 2AU, was drawn as a winner in this week's Saturday Street Prize.
Andy Tibbott, 51, who plays with two tickets, was shocked to receive a cheque for £50,000 from former X-Factor star and People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador, Danyl Johnson. "I'm over the moon," he said. "It's brilliant."
The win has come at the great time for Andy and his family. "My wife Michelle has to go into hospital for a knee operation, which means she will be off work for a couple of months," he said. "Winning this money will make things so much easier."
Andy, who works as an operations manager, signed up to play with one ticket last year. "A few of my colleagues recommended playing, as a couple of them had had a few wins," he said. "I only played with one ticket but signed up to play with another early this year - I just had a feeling."
As well as making life a bit easier for his family, Andy has other plans for his winnings. "I'd like to pay off a few bills and our summer holiday in Tunisia," he said. "It would also be nice to treat my wife and two kids, Harry and Rebecca. Harry has already been browsing the Argos catalogue!"
People's Postcode Lottery presenter Danyl Johnston said, "I really enjoyed meeting Andy and presenting him with his rather large cheque. I hope him and his family have a great time spending the money."
Players have raised over £66.4 Million for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally. One local charity, Wildlife Trust BCNP, was awarded £6,268 for their Cambourne Wild Discovery Trail Project, which provides improved access to Cambourne Nature Reserve. The trail allows local people to fully enjoy the natural habitats of Cambourne.
