Cheerful In Cheadle

Ten terrific Cheadle neighbours are celebrating today after their postcode, SK8 2BG, was revealed as a winner of our #30KADAY Street Prize. The Chorlton Drive players discovered they'd each won a £30,000 cheque when they received golden envelopes through their doors.

Cake To Celebrate

Lucky Helen had only been playing for two months when she received her envelope at home with her two-year-old son. She said, "I thought to myself, 'Really?! Is this real?!' I was ecstatic. I was dancing around the kitchen. My little boy was laughing at me!

"My partner works away in London, so it was just me and my little boy getting ready for lunch. He didn't really know what was going on, he just thought I was going mad. My partner will be back tonight so we might venture into town tonight to celebrate."

Helen plans to use her winnings to treat herself and her family to a holiday in the sun. She said, "I think we'll go on a really, really nice holiday next year! We were supposed to go on holiday with my brother and his little boy but had to put that on hold. It was going to be our first holiday together, so we'll definitely do that when we can. I think we'll probably go to Greece. It was meant to be Spain but I can change my mind now!"

When asked how she'd be celebrating, Helen said, "My mum came around about ten minutes after I got my letter, so we went around to a local bakery and got a piece of cake to celebrate." She added, "I still can't believe it. It's still not sunk in. It just gives me some piece of mind."

Perfect Timing

Nick was another of our happy £30,000 winners. He said, "My wife was there when I got the letter, but I didn't tell her at first! 

"I always watch the adverts and how great it would be if someone came to the door. But getting a golden envelope through the post is just as good! I never ever win anything, not even a raffle! I never thought I'd have a big win." 

Nick has an 18-month-old son, so the win has come at a great time for him and his wife. He said, "It's just great and so brilliant. It will come in handy so much. It's the perfect time. We actually bought this house to do up, but then our first baby came along so all the money went towards him, so this will come in handy. We can put some money away for his future.

"The first thing we'll plan a holiday. I'm sure my wife will be wanting a handbag though. I'll need some advice on which one to buy. We went to Malta last December for a cheap trip away, and just before this we were planning on doing the same again. We'll leave it a few months and hopefully things will settle down so we can go again in December just before Christmas.

"It couldn't have come at a better time, to be honest. It will set us up for the future."
