Street Prize For Pontefract

A new mum in Pontefract has started the week with an unexpected windfall after netting a £30,000 cheque with People's Postcode Lottery. Her postcode, WF8 1EH, was announced as a winner of today's Street Prize.

Every day throughout our August draws we'll announce one postcode as a £30,000 Street Prize winner. Each player in that lucky postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they play.

Lucky Lauren was left stunned after learning of her win during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier. As Jeff revealed her cheque, she laughed and exclaimed, "Oh my God! That's awesome, that's great. I can't believe it!"

Lauren, who is currently on maternity leave caring for her seven-month-old son, already had plans for her winnings. She and her partner, Matt, recently moved to their house and have a lot of work they are planning to do. Lauren said, "We are renovating our house so it'll probably go towards that, I would imagine. We're not just renovating, we've bought two floors below and it's been all knocked out and it's a complete and utter mess! So, this will be awesome for it."

Lauren added that her first plans were to celebrate the good news. She said, "I think I might get a wee bottle of wine to go with dinner tonight and that'll be that."

Jeff Brazier said, "I was so pleased to bring this fantastic surprise to Lauren today, I couldn't be happier for her. I hope she can use the winnings to get those renovations done and treat her family as well!" 

Good Causes Everywhere

This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Education Trust. This trust supports organisations, including AfriKids, War Child and Save the Children which provide education, particularly in emergency situations, with regular grant funding.

With 33% of the ticket price going to deserving projects, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised more than £750 Million for over 9,000 charities and good causes across Great Britain as well as internationally.
