Street Prize

Magnificent Maldon Win

10 October 2015 - CM9 6FG - Maldon - £25,000

Two players in Maldon are dancing in the streets after they each won £25,000 in today's Saturday Street Prize. Their postcode, CM9 6FG, was this week's big winner.

Jennifer Benham, 27, was at home with her partner Wayne when she was surprised by People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson, who presented her with her £25,000 cheque.

"I couldn't believe it when the team showed up," she said. "I was so shocked and embarrassed I could hardly get any words out."

Stay-at-home mum Jennifer has been playing People's Postcode Lottery since April this year. "It was actually my partner's idea to sign up," she said. "He started to sign us up online but then didn't finish it. One of the Customer Experience agents called me to ask if we still wanted to play, so I signed up properly – thank goodness they called. Wayne's trying to take the credit!"

Jennifer and Wayne, who have four children between them, already have some concrete plans for their winnings. "I've never been able to take the boys on holiday, so I would love to take them on a trip to Disney World in Florida," she said. "I've also been meaning to learn to drive for a while, so I'll book lessons, and we need a new cooker and washing machine."

There was one other winner who was not available when the team called. Fortunately, her mum Pat was delighted to accept the cheque on her daughter's behalf.

As a charity lottery, 27.5% of the cost of every ticket goes to charities and good causes – players have raised an incredible £86.8 Million for good causes in Great Britain and internationally. One charity supported by players is Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres, which has been awarded more than £3.6 Million to date. Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres are based throughout Great Britain, and exist to offer the practical, emotional and social support that that those with cancer, and their families, so badly need.
