It's a wonderful Wednesday for three lucky neighbours who have each scooped a whopping £30,000 cheque. The windfall came for the Dormston trio after their postcode, WR7 4LG, was announced as a winner of today's #30KADAY Street Prize.
Steve, who celebrated his 61st birthday last week, was among our winners. He discovered how much he'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson. On seeing his prize, Steve exclaimed, "Fantastic, thank you very much! That's a very nice way to start the new year and a great birthday present. This is the first big cheque I've ever won so it's quite a nice feeling, I must say."
Steve, who works in cyber security, already has a few ideas on how he'll spend the windfall. He said, "It's my wife Victoria's 40th birthday next year and she's always wanted to see the northern lights, so I think we'll put some of it towards that trip.
"I've got some champagne in the fridge so I think we'll be opening that up tonight!"
Hearing his neighbours had also won, Steve added, "I think the fact I've heard two of my neighbours have won too has made me even happier."
What The Doctor Ordered
Sharon, who retired in October last year, was another of our happy winners. When her cheque was revealed she said, "Oh wow! You've really cheered up my day now - that's just what the doctor ordered!
"I've never won anything ever, other than the odd £10 on Postcode Lottery so that's wonderful."
Asked how she'd spend the cash, Sharon said, "A holiday somewhere hot and exotic! That's if we're ever allowed to go on holidays again. I've been to America a few times and would quite like to go back to Disney in Florida and Arizona - I absolutely love Arizona.
"I'm going out shopping later, so I think I'll be buying a bottle of something sparkling now!"
After the video call Matt Johnson said, "It was my pleasure to deliver some good news to Steve and Sharon and help their new year off to a great start. Congratulations to them and our other lucky winner."
Thousands Of Deserving Projects
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Education Trust. This trust supports charities and good causes such as Save the Children, Unicef UK and War Child that provide education particularly in emergency situations.
With People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Our players have funded over 8,500 deserving projects across Britain and around the world. To date, players have raised more than £600 Million for community groups and charitable organisations.
