Galston Win

14 May 2021 - KA4 8BW - Galston - £30,000

Three Galston neighbours ended their week on a high when our Street Prize team, following strict social-distancing guidelines, knocked on their doors and presented them with golden envelopes.

The lucky winners each scooped a £30,000 cheque after their postcode KA4 8BW was drawn in today's #30KADAY Street Prize.

Lots Of Happiness

Among our winners was Sandra. As her prize cheque was revealed she exclaimed, "Oh my God. Oh my goodness. Oh heavens, oh jings!" Joined by her husband Angus, she added, "This will spread a lot of happiness and a lot of joy. It sure will."

Neighbours cheered and clapped as the amount was revealed. Sandra said, "That is some amount of money, isn't it? It's unbelievable. Things like this don't happen to me. Gee whizz!"

As the news began to sink in Sandra started to get teary eyed and added, "Just think how much I can help the family. Family is everything, it's just everything."

She had a special treat in mind for her sister whom she hasn't seen in three years. She said, "My sister was supposed to come visit from Canada but with everything that has happened she hasn't managed it. I'm going to send her money over for the flight. I'm going to make sure my four boys and my grandkids get something nice as well."

Sandra was thrilled to be winning with her neighbours and said, "This whole terrace is great. If something goes wrong everyone joins together. It's a lovely close-knit terrace, it really is. It's fabulous."

Hot Tub Treat

Neighbour Lyndsey also won a £30,000 cheque. When she and her partner Paul saw how much she'd scooped, Lyndsey said, "Oh my God! I can't stop shaking now."

When asked how she might spend the winnings she said, "Maybe I'll look at a new car. I can start living a bit comfier! We've got a bar out the back door so Paul is wanting to double the size of it. So a bigger bar!"

Lyndsey, who works as a catering assistant, had a treat in mind for herself as well. She said, "A hot tub! We wanted one last year but they were always sold out so we could never get one. So I want that just for me."

Over The Moon

Our third £30,000 winner was David, who was left stunned on seeing his cheque. As the amount was revealed his partner, Helen, cheered. After a moment he said, "I'm absolutely over the moon. Things like this don't happen. We've never won anything like this before, it's fabulous."

The couple weren't sure how they would spend their windfall, but were planning to celebrate with their neighbours when they can. David added, "We'll maybe have a drink after dinner tonight."

Our visit to Galston followed strict social-distancing guidelines. Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier didn't attend in person but sent his best wishes to all our happy winners. He said, "A big congratulations to our winners in Galston today! What a great way to end the week. I'm sure they'll enjoy spending the cash and treat themselves to something special."
