Great Win For Greenock
16 May 2015 - PA16 0NU - Greenock - £25,000
Greenock player Elizabeth Nairn has plenty to celebrate this weekend, as the Saturday Street Prize has landed in her postcode, PA16 0NU, netting her £25,000.
Elizabeth, 65, couldn't believe her eyes when People's Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt handed over her cheque. "It's such a shock to win anything," said Elizabeth. "I thought it was too good to be true."
Elizabeth, a retired phone repair specialist, was so excited she phoned her friends and family to tell them the good news. "My phone is breaking, as I have used it so much since I found out about my win," Elizabeth laughed. "I'll be using some of the money to buy myself a new one."
Elizabeth also plans to spoil her two sons, Paul and Liam. "I have not seen my son, Paul, for two years, as he lives in Canada," said Elizabeth. "I would love to use some of the money to pay him a surprise visit."
As well as spoiling her two sons, Elizabeth also has five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to treat with her win.
After meeting Elizabeth, Judie McCourt said, "It was great visiting Greenock to surprise Elizabeth with her cheque. She was delighted to win £25,000, and I hope she has a great time spending her winnings."
Players have raised over £69.2 Million for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally. One Greenock project to receive funding is Caddlehill Allotment Gardens, which strives to accommodate all members of the community who show a committed interest in the gardens.
The Allotment was awarded £2,000, which they will use to purchase new greenhouses after storms damaged and destroyed many greenhouses beyond repair. The greenhouses will allow its members to propagate seeds and raise plants, both for themselves and for the garden's plant sales.
