Ten Rochford residents have an extra reason to celebrate this Christmas after winning £50,000 each thanks to their postcode. The windfall comes after SS4 3AS was announced as a winner of today's Street Prize.
These prizes are part of our special #50KADAY Christmas celebration in which one postcode is revealed as a winner every day in December's draws and every ticket in that postcode picks up an amazing £50,000 cheque.
Nine winners received £50,000 while one player held two tickets, scooping an incredible £100,000!
Julie gasped with delight when she learned from Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt that she'd won £50,000. She exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, oh my God!" After pausing for a moment she added, "That's got to the best Christmas present, I'm shaking!
"I'm glad I'm sitting down. Things like this don't happen to me."
Julie couldn't wait to tell her partner about the win. She said, "I still can't believe it. My husband is at work so I'll be straight on the phone to him. I'll be down the shops as well to get the champagne."
Julie, who works as a team manager at a bank, has some ideas on how to spend her winnings, "I'm in desperate need of a new kitchen, so that's definitely going to be high on the list. When it's safe to travel again, definitely a holiday. Somewhere warm and hot with palm trees. I've always wanted to go to the Maldives, so that could be a good one. And a good meal out!"
Another Rochford local who will be celebrating Christmas with an extra £50,000 was Raymond. He said, "Wow! I wasn't expecting that, that is absolutely fantastic."
Like Julie, Raymond learned of his win over video call and was quickly joined by his wife Anne. After seeing the cheque, she exclaimed, "I'm going to retire early!" Raymond added, "It's fabulous. It means we can do things we hadn't thought of, or thought were beyond reach and now suddenly they aren't."
When asked what they planned to do first to celebrate, Raymond said, "We had planned to go down to the cockle sheds, but I think now instead of having mussels we'll have oysters!"
The couple have three children and six grandchildren. Anne added, "They'll get a little bit as well."
Judie McCourt sent her well-wishes to our winners. She said, "Congratulations to Julie, Ray, Anne and all of our other winners in Rochford. I'm so happy we could bring them this great news that I'm sure will make their holidays even more special!"
