Seven neighbours from Greenock had a thrilling Thursday when our Street Prize team knocked on their doors and presented them with golden envelopes. Their postcode PA16 0QX was today announced as a winner of our Street Prize.

Five of the residents each won £30,000 cheques while the remaining two scooped £60,000 each as they play with two tickets.

Amazing Moment

One of today's big winners was Gary, who received a knock on his door from Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson. Reflecting on how much he'd won, Gary said, "Oh my goodness. It was the most amazing moment of my life, winning £60,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery.

"£60,000, it's just life-changing. It's absolutely life-changing. Words can't describe how amazing it actually is. I think I'm still in shock."

Gary had not long arrived home from a nightshift at the NHS when he found out about his windfall. The first thing on his mind was treating his daughter. He said, "I think Christmas will definitely be good for my little girl. That's the initial thing, I know she's going to have a really good Christmas this year. She'll be getting spoiled."

He intends to spend some of the prize money on house renovations and a holiday. He added, "We'll definitely get a couple of wee things done around the house. Maybe a new kitchen or something, a new bathroom and a couple of breaks away."

He's also going to celebrate his win in style with trip to the Highlands. He said, "I finish nightshift on Saturday and then I'm off for 16 days. Me and my wife have an overnight stay booked at Loch Lomond at the end of the month, so I think we'll make the most of the celebration then."

A Big Boost

Neighbour Joan was another lucky winner. After clapping eyes on her big £30,000 cheque, she exclaimed, "Oh my God! That's wonderful."

This isn't the first time Joan has been lucky with People's Postcode Lottery. Back in 2011 she won £11,962 when her postcode sector shared a £2 Million prize.

Joan and her husband are recently retired, and the money will go a long way to helping her family. She said, "We're both on a pension, I've only been retired three years so it will help, it will help a lot.

"I'm going to help my daughter, my son who stays with us and my son in Germany. I'll send some to him to give him a boost. Because it is a big boost."

Family Treats

Jim also scooped a £30,000 prize. He said, "Absolutely delighted. I've never had a cheque for £30,000. It's going to be a challenge to work out how to spend it all."

His first thoughts turned to his family. He said, "I want to treat my family - I want to give my kids and my grandkids something. It just means myself and my wife will be comfortable for a couple of years to come without having to worry about money.

"My Grandson already got his request in for a PlayStation 5, so I'll suppose I'll need to start looking for one of them."

Jim also intends to treat his wife to a new bicycle and a holiday. He added, "We had to cancel Portugal last year, so I think we'll go back to the Algarve at some point in 2022.

"I might look at getting a smaller folding bike for my wife, she loves cycling."

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "I was thrilled to bring this incredible surprise to our lucky players in Greenock! It was lovely meeting some of our winners and hearing what they are going to spend it on."
