Street Prizes For Solihull

21 December 2021 - B92 7RQ - Solihull - £30,000

Eight neighbours from Solihull are celebrating an early Christmas treat today after learning they have each netted a £30,000 cash prize. The windfall follows the neighbours' postcode B92 7RQ being announced as a Street Prize winner.

Among the winners was Jennifer, who learned of her £30,000 prize win during a video call with Jeff Brazier. After seeing her prize cheque she exclaimed, "Oh my God! Those noughts just kept going there. Oh my gosh, that is incredible. I'm a bit stunned, but absolutely over the moon!"

The mum-of-four said she and her husband were left shocked by prize and couldn't believe they had won, "We kept saying saying: 'are we really going to win something?' Because it just doesn't happen to us!"

Take The Pressure Off

With Christmas only a few days away, Jennifer said the win was going to be a big boost for her family, "It's going to help in so many ways. I hadn't even comprehended that it could be that sort of amount of money. It'll take the pressure of Christmas, we'll be able to maybe relax a little more. Not worry so much about what we're going to do and when we’re going to do it. We'll be able to treat the kids. We're hoping to have everyone over for Christmas. This means we can have an extra special party now. It just means we might go to Marks and Spencer's instead of Aldi!"

Jennifer added that the cash would allow her to spend more time with her family while also completing a project long in the making, "We've been trying to do our garden for three years. Each weekend we spend some time doing that bit of work so this will just give us time back. We'll be able to get some help in and finish that bit of work.

"We've been trying to do it ourselves as it's more cost effective, but it means we've been quite time-poor for doing things with the kids and going out. This will just free up so much time and we'll be able to enjoy that space next year.

"We need to change the lawn and put some paving down. We're actually making a play area for the kids and some bedding for kids to grow their own vegetables. We're trying make it a functional space which everyone can enjoy, it’s quite a big job so this will help a lot to get it finished!”

Once In A Lifetime Trip

Jennifer also said that the winnings would go towards a planned family holiday as well, "We've been trying to have a holiday to Cyprus for the last two years. We've really saved to try to go away but we've had to postpone it, and postpone it. But we've gotten to the point now that the kid’s passports are out of date!

"We'll hopefully be going away in the summer and this will just make that incredible, it will really help us to enjoy that time. It's just going to be amazing. It'll be a once-in-a-lifetime holiday now."

When asked if there were any treats in mind for herself Jennifer laughed and said, "I have no idea. I might get my car valeted, that would be nice! I might spoil myself and get my nails and hair done. That would be a bit of a treat. I'll take some girlfriends with me."

Jennifer was also thrilled to hear that seven of her neighbours have won a prize, she said, "That's incredible, it might be a noisy street! It's lovely that other people will be sharing it as well, it's really nice."

People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Jeff Brazier shared his well-wishes with all our lovely winners. Jeff said, "A massive congratulations to Jennifer and our other winners in Solihull today, I’m sure they'll be making some extra plans for Christmas as we speak! I hope they enjoy the rest of the festive season and have a great time with their winnings."
