Street Prize

Winning In Windsor

27 December 2018 - SL4 4NP - Windsor - £30,000

Eight neighbours in Windsor got a very special Christmas present after their lucky postcode, SL4 4NP, was announced as our latest Street Prize winner. People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Jeff Brazier was knocking on doors and ringing bells in Luff Close to meet our happy winners and hand out some amazing cheques. Seven residents scooped £30,000 each, while the eighth landed a whopping £60,000, thanks to playing with two tickets.

Jeff delivered golden envelopes to lucky winners including Charity Worker Fiona P, who collected a £30,000 cheque. Fiona P said, "This win couldn't have come at a better time for me. I'm in between jobs at the moment, so it's a great comfort this Christmas. My son is moving to Australia in January, so I will use the money to go visit him and take a long holiday out there."

Fiona S has lived in the postcode for nearly 40 years. Today, her postcode won £30,000 for her. Fiona S said, "I feel on top of the world, I've never held this much money before! I started playing People's Postcode Lottery because I think it's a really great way to donate to charities, but never thought I'd win. I think I'll treat myself and my husband to a cruise!"

Blind Fitter Stuart said, "When someone knocks on your door and gives you a cheque for £30,000 it's life-changing. I am already so lucky to have a lovely wife and two daughters, but this win is the icing on the cake for Christmas. Also, my van broke down yesterday and I'm self-employed, so this money means a great deal and couldn't have come at a better time.”

Retired Carol will be sharing her £30,000 with her family, including her daughter Adele. Adele was with Carol when she picked up her big cheque. Carol said, "This money is going to change my family's life. I have a great-granddaughter on the way, so I'm looking forward to treating her. I started playing about six years ago because of the great causes it gives to. It's just amazing that not only have I won, but that so many charities are winners too."

Fellow winner Bruce was joined by his wife Cecile when he was presented with his £30,000 cheque. Bruce said, "This win is just unbelievable, I only started playing a month ago because I liked the idea of giving to charities and to win this much already is simply amazing. The great thing about People's Postcode Lottery is that we've won as a neighbourhood. We get on really well so it's amazing we can all celebrate together! We are going to spend the money on a round the world cruise. We've both retired so we have the time to explore – and now we've got the money to do it too!"

With a minimum of 32% from every ticket going to charity, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised £371 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. This prize was part of a draw promoted by Postcode Sport Trust.

Local charities that are supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery include Legacy Leisure, which was awarded £19,566 last year to deliver wheelchair basketball sessions and purchase new wheelchairs. The sessions aim to increase physical activity and social inclusion for disabled members of the community. Headway Thames Valley also received £3,099 earlier this year to run sporting sessions for people with brain injuries, improving the participants' self-esteem and confidence.

People's Postcode Lottery Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier said, "It has been wonderful to be in Windsor today delivering such fantastic news - and big cheques - to all our winners. Everyone was so friendly and it's an amazing feeling to be continuing to spread festive cheer in our red jackets. Delivering cheques is always a joy at any time of year but it's especially nice these winners will go into the New Year with a big boost to their bank accounts. I'm absolutely over the moon for everyone who picked up a prize and I hope they enjoy treating themselves. And with all the money that's been raised for local charities, everyone's a winner!"
