Postcode Millions

Ecstatic In Long Eaton

02 October 2020 - NG10 3QA - Long Eaton - £3 Million
Danyl Johnson spoke to some of our lucky winners on a special video call

It's a wonderful start to October for players in a lucky Long Eaton postcode as they found out their postcode sector, NG10 3, was drawn to win our September Postcode Millions prize. An incredible 1,236 neighbours from Long Eaton kicked off their weekends in style by sharing the huge £3 Million prize pot.

Jacqui was one of five players in the full winning postcode of NG10 3QA who picked up the lion's share of the prize pot - they each collected a stunning £206,265. Some of our big winners were presented with their cheques in a special Facebook Live Video with People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson.

Cloud Nine

At home with partner James and five-year-old dog Rolo, Jacqui couldn't believe her luck when Danyl pulled out the cheque!

Gobsmacked Jacqui said, "Oh my God! I can't believe this, it's absolutely incredible!

"I never win anything. This really will make such a difference to our lives, I'm honestly on Cloud Nine right now."

Jacqui and James, who are both retired, have plans to go on a cruise next year but Jacqui also has some exciting plans of her own with the winnings. "I'd love to buy a two seater sports car, not for me and James but for me and Rolo!"

The couple didn't have any big plans for celebrating their win, but were looking forward to sharing a fish supper and a bottle of prosecco.

Jacqui added_, "2020 is not as bad as we thought it was going to be."_

Business Class

Next up to receive a cheque was Dorothy, who was joined by husband Barry when she found out she'd won £206,265 and shared her plans to visit Australia with her winnings.

Dorothy said, "We retired in 2005 and spent two and half months travelling in Australia and New Zealand and have always wanted to go back. It's nice to know we can travel in business class now!"

About to celebrate her 76th birthday,  Dorothy was absolutely stunned when Danyl revealed her cheque and kept asking the ambassador if he was joking about the amount she had won!

Dorothy and Barry, who shared a kiss following their win, explained what this win means to them, "This money will give us a lot more freedom. You've made us incredibly happy in our twilight years.", said Barry.

The couple, who signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery because of the charities supported, have decided to get another ticket in case their postcode is drawn again!

Prize sums for the remaining 1,231 players in the sector ranged from £1,445 to £7,225, depending on the number of tickets played with.

Danyl Johnson was delighted to spend time on the call with the Long Eaton neighbours, adding, "It's always the best part of my job meeting the winners and telling them exactly how much they've won, and I have loved meeting Jacqui and Dorothy today.

"I'd like to wish everyone who has won in Long Eaton a massive congratulations, I hope they all enjoy spending their winnings!"

Good Causes Benefit

This prize was part of a draw promoted by Postcode Education Trust which provides financial support to charities and good causes which encourage, inspire or support people with education and learning.

It's not just players who win with People's Postcode Lottery - good causes win too. With 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players have raised more than £600 Million for thousands of deserving causes in the UK and internationally.

Local charities have also benefited from funding raised by players too including Headway Nottingham. The organisation received £14,855 to support the Brain Injury Outreach project which allowed them to deliver injury specific support and provide access to rehabilitation services.

If you'd like to join the fun then why not find out How It Works and sign up today. Like our Long Eaton winners, you could be picking up one of our fantastic Prizes too!
