Street Prize
Cash For Kidderminster
A father and son from Kidderminster are celebrating this week after winning £30,000 each, thanks to postcode DY11 7BZ.
Tony and Martin Fisher were surprised by People's Postcode Lottery Street Prize presenter Danyl Johnson, who handed them their amazing cheques. "It's brilliant," said Martin. "I'm so glad we signed up!"
Martin, who owns web design company Statix IT, signed up in December last year. He then persuaded his dad to do the same. "A colleague of mine played and when I found out about the charities I would support by playing, I signed up immediately," Martin said. "When I told dad about it, he didn't think we’d both be able to win at the same postcode – but the whole point is winning together."
Even though the postcode has proved lucky for Martin, he is planning to use the money to move out. "My girlfriend May and I have been saving for a deposit for our own place so this will really help. I'll still play with this postcode though," he said.
Martin's dad Tony was equally delighted with this win. "My wife Sandra and I have always wanted to take a couple of holidays a year but we've never been able to. We're thinking of going somewhere hot over Christmas which is something we haven't done in the past. We're thinking of Tenerife."
Danyl Johnson said, "This is the first time I've ever presented a father and son with matching cheques. I hope they both enjoy spending their winnings."
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £190 Million for more than 2,800 good causes.
One good cause close to our lucky winners is Spokes CIC, which was awarded £1,991 for a horticultural project in a local park to train volunteers and help them into employment.
There were also happy winners in Giffnock at the weekend as players in G46 7NF won £30,000 for each ticket they play.
