Big Win For Bayston Hill
A Street Prize winner from Bayston Hill plans to retire and get a dog after receiving her amazing prize.
Ann, whose lucky postcode SY3 0PY was drawn as the Street Prize winner on Sunday, scooped a fabulous £30,000.
Joined by daughter Stacey, she said, "Winning is extra special at this time of year. I work as a housekeeper, but I'd like to finish up soon and get a dog for my retirement. I'd really like a Cockapoo.
"My husband and I have been saving for a holiday home for the last couple of years so we'll be able to start looking for one to buy near the sea. We normally go abroad, but as we get older we want somewhere we can go to more often in this country. It's something that the children and grandchildren can enjoy too!"
One other winner on the street was unavailable to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be transferred directly into their bank account.
Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson, who revealed Ann's cheque, said, "We battled through the snow to deliver Ann's cheque, and what a wonderful surprise she got just before Christmas. Next year promises to be full of surprises for even more winners with £130 Million of prizes to be won. If you're not playing, what are you waiting for?"
A minimum of 31% of the ticket price goes to good causes. Over £255 Million has been raised to date for charities across Great Britain and internationally.
One local cause that has received funds from players is Shrewsbury Town in the Community. Last year, £13,434 was awarded to the group to run computer skills workshops for older people.
Bayston Hill wasn't the only lucky area this weekend, as players in Peak Dale also scooped £30,000 prizes.
