Street Prize
Good Luck In Great Lumley
Three Great Lumley residents are celebrating after winning big with People's Postcode Lottery. Their postcode, DH3 4LY, was drawn as a Saturday Street Prize winner this week. The Holyrood neighbours landed a whopping £30,000 each.
David Gillespie was one of our winners. "It's still not sunk in really. I couldn't be at home for Judie and the team so asked them to present the cheque to my mum instead and she called me straight away – we were both in shock! I need to have a good think about what to do with the money but I'll definitely be having a trip away this year."
Two more £30,000 winners were not available to receive their cheques in person. Their prize money will be paid direct into their bank accounts.
People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador Judie McCourt said, "I'm delighted for David. It was great to meet his mum and to speak to him on the phone – I think they were equally as excited! I hope he enjoys spending the money."
With People's Postcode Lottery, a minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. Players have raised an amazing £205 Million to date for more than 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and around the world. One local charity near today's Street Prize winners which has received support from players is The Comfrey Project.
The Comfrey Project provides refugees and people seeking asylum with a safe, welcoming environment. Last year, People's Postcode Lottery players supported this deserving project with £20,000 funding to develop a community garden. This provides an organic food-growing area, outdoor learning spaces, a wildlife zone including a pond, and a place for neighbourhood events.
On Sunday, two lucky players scooped life-changing cheques when the Street Prize landed in Hove.
