Street Prize

A Rich Win For Roch

18 June 2017 - SA62 6AZ - Roch - £30,000

Roch players will be partying this weekend, as ten neighbours are celebrating winning Sunday's Street Prize with their postcode, SA62 6AZ. Seven winners won £30,000, and three more who play with two tickets doubled their prize to £60,000.

Robert Bleasdale, one of the £60,000 winners, said, "It's fantastic! We'll be able to get some holidays booked straight away, which we haven't been able to do for a while, and we'll be able to help our daughter buy her first house. The money going to charity is a big part of why I play – you never know when you're going to need support yourself – so I'll definitely keep playing."

Steven Jones also won £60,000. "It's unbelievable – I can't get my head round that amount of money. I have no idea what to do with it! My wife Carol wants a new kitchen, and we'll help the kids out. Mostly, it's nice to have some money behind us, a bit of a safety net."

Ann Grimes and her partner Brian were both speechless when presented with their £60,000 cheque. "I'm so, so glad," said Ann. "I can't believe it, but if you're not playing, you must get involved – it's for a good cause."

Vivian Phelps and her husband Roger Stephens won £30,000 each. Vivian said they'll need to have a good think about what to do with the money, adding, "You just never think it'll happen to you!"

Mark Hammond is delighted with his £30,000 win. "What a surprise! I know all of my neighbours who won, so the excitement was building as I could see them all getting their knocks at the door. It's fantastic that we're going to be able to celebrate together. My wife Tracy and I are doing up the house at the moment, so some of the money will go towards that, and my son and daughter are both in their twenties, so will each be getting a bit."

Jackie Gilderdale was shocked by the prize. "It's a massive amount that will make such a difference. My mum and dad are both poorly at the moment – I'll definitely be treating my dad to the best Father's Day he's ever had!"

Jacqueline Stevens was happy to win with her neighbours. "It's wonderful to know that my neighbours, who are all friends, are sharing this fantastic experience with us."

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "It was great to meet so many winners here in Roch. The neighbours all knew each other, which was really nice to see, as that's what People's Postcode Lottery is all about – communities winning together."

A minimum of 30% of ticket price goes to charities, and players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £205 Million to date for 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and around the world.

One cause near Roch that has received support from players recently is Carmarthen Youth Project, which was awarded £10,000 last year to run workshops on gardening and growing food.

There was also a fabulous win in Egerton this weekend, as BL7 9UJ was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
