Christmas Treat For Charfield
There was extra Christmas cheer in Charfield this year as six neighbours scooped a total of £210,000 thanks to their postcode. GL12 8JA was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.
Five lucky players won £30,000 each and the other winner, who plays with two tickets, doubled their prize to £60,000.
Sally, who is a public care consultant, was delighted to scoop £30,000. She said, "We've just finished a big renovation project inside the house, but we still haven't bought any furniture because we ran out of money. This win is brilliant timing for picking up bargains in the January sales.
"My son and husband are big Star Wars fans and they play the board game X-Wing, so they'll be looking for the latest kit for that."
Another £30,000 winner was Darren, whose wife Jackie received the cheque on his behalf.
The other four winners were unavailable to receive their golden cheques from Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson, but their prize money will be paid directly into their bank accounts.
Danyl said, "This will be a Christmas to remember for all of the lucky Charfield winners. There'll be more winners next year, with £130 Million in prizes to be won. If you're not playing with your postcode, what are you waiting for?"
To date, over £255 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for more than 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local cause that has received support from players is Freedom Leisure. The group was awarded £1,000 last year to purchase new kit for its walking football group.
