Prize Won In Worplesdon
One lucky winner in Worplesdon has picked up a cheque for £30,000 thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. She scooped the cash when her postcode, GU3 3RE, was drawn in Saturday's Street Prize.
Full-time mum Jane was over the moon when she discovered how much she had won. "Oh wow! This is unbelievable – I never thought that it could ever be me winning, so this is just such lovely surprise!"
Perhaps even more surprised than Jane was her husband Gary, who only discovered she played when Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson knocked on their door with the golden envelope in hand!
Jane plans to celebrate the windfall with Gary and their three children, who have also given a few ideas on how they can help her spend it. "My kids love Shawn Mendes so tickets to see him play is already at the top of their wish list – I'm sure I'll be able to treat them to that now!"
Offering his congratulations, Matt said, "It's been my absolute pleasure to present Jane with her prize today and I'm thrilled for her and her family. If you would like to see me standing outside your door with a lovely big cheque then make sure you've signed up to play with your postcode!"
A minimum of 32% of the ticket price goes to charity. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £301 Million for more than 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally. This Street Prize was part of a draw promoted by Depaul UK.
One nearby charity that has benefited from players' support is The Source Young People's Charity. Last year, the group was awarded £4,800 to introduce specialist one-to-one mentoring to vulnerable young people with additional needs.
Worplesdon wasn't the only area this weekend, another winner picked up £30,000 in Sunday's Street Prize.
