Big Bucks In Bamber Bridge
Three pleased neighbours from Bamber Bridge are jumping for joy after scooping £25,000 each when PR5 8EY was drawn as one of two Saturday Street Prize winners.
Sam McKay was overwhelmed when Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt arrived at her door. "This has been a massive shock," she said. "But it’s come at the perfect time!"
Sam, who works as a cost analyst, has recently moved house so didn't actually win with her own postcode. "I signed up to play at my parents address," she laughs. "I'll have to buy them a present to thank them."
Sam and her partner Stefan are now living in their new home and the winnings will come in handy. "We need a new kitchen and my car just failed its MOT, so I might be going car shopping soon," she said. "Now we’ve moved I’ve signed up with another ticket for our new postcode."
Sam's neighbour Elaine Adamson was equally delighted with her win. "I've been knocked sideways," she said. "I signed up to support charities and never thought I'd actually win."
Elaine is looking forward to a good Christmas with her win and has two children and two grandchildren to spoil. "It just makes life so much easier," she said.
Linda Traynor was the third lady to be surprised by the Street Prize team and knows exactly how she'll spend her £25,000. "I've wanted an Aga for a long time so I think I’ll treat myself," she said. "My daughter has one and now I can get one too."
People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador, Judie McCourt, said, "I loved meeting the three ladies today and presenting them with their cheques. I hope they all enjoy spending their winnings."
Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £154 Million to date for over 2,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A project near Preston that has received support from players is Opportunity Sports Foundation, which was awarded over £13,500 this year to provide coaching for its Respite Activity Club, for families of disabled children.
Bamber Bridge wasn't the only lucky place this weekend, one player from Pembroke Dock also scooped £25,000 when his postcode SA72 6BA was selected as the second Saturday Street Prize winner.
