Richard, a special needs school coordinator, was stunned when Danyl Johnson revealed his six-figure cheque.

"I am lost for words. Truly lost for words."

He added: "My twin daughters are about to go off to university. They're both taking their driving tests next month. So, if they pass, I can buy them each a car."

Andy was also celebrating a £333,333 win, which he’ll now spend on a luxury Rolex, a dream safari and a VIP Day at Oldham Athletic. He also wants to buy new turf for his back garden so his kids can play football all year round.

“It’s all about getting some new grass down for the kids because they are always out there playing football.”

Winners Richard and Andy were also thrilled to hear local charities have received funding as a direct result of their big postcode win.

For Andy, charities remain an important part of the lottery.

He said: "It wasn’t just about me. The charity side of it has always been important."

The charities receiving surprise funding, made possible thanks to Postcode Lottery players, include:

  • Oldham Foodbank - £50,000 The charity provides emergency food and support to people in crisis across the Oldham community as part of the Trussell network to tackle hunger and poverty across the UK.

  • Fatima Women’s Association (FWA) - £50,000 A community‑led charity based in Oldham that supports women, young people and children through education, training, and health and wellbeing services.
