Volunteering For Great Charities In England

Volunteering For Great Charities In England

While most people in England are blessed with safe homes, stable jobs, good health and a supportive family, that's not the case for everyone. From kids who aren't getting the childhood or future they deserve, to those coping with a cancer diagnosis, there are many people within our local communities who require extra support.

The same also goes for too high a proportion of the country's animals who are mistreated, neglected or are being driven out of their natural habitats. Luckily, England's most vulnerable people, pets and wildlife can achieve brighter futures thanks to hundreds of amazingly supportive charities. They can't run on their own, though. They need all the help they can get, whether that's through volunteering to help with day to day tasks or by assisting with raising vital funding.

CHARITIES IN ENGLAND THAT NEED YOUR HELP

Animal Charities

There are numerous animal charities that are in need of support in England, from wildlife sanctuaries for birds and other native species, to shelters that help rehabilitate and rehome unwanted pets.

Dogs Trust - Formerly known as the National Canine Defence League, this dog shelter charity was founded in 1891 and has gone on to rescue and rehome thousands of dogs and puppies at centres around the UK.

RSPCA - An internationally renowned charity set up nearly two centuries ago to protect, rescue and prevent cruelty to animals and pets.

Cats Protection - This charity originated in London during the 1920s and offers a safe haven for unwanted or abused cats and kittens. As well as rehabilitating cats in its various shelters, the organisation also tries to find them loving forever homes.

Wildlife Trusts - A charity that protects the natural habitats of England's wildlife thanks to various nature reserves and conservation projects.

Cancer Charities

Whether it's to help support someone going through a diagnosis, or to offer vital financial assistance for treatment, England's cancer charities are truly invaluable.

Breast Cancer Now - This is the UK's national breast cancer charity that aims to provide support, advice and vital assistance for those going through diagnosis, treatment, or who are recovering from breast cancer.

CLIC Sargent - CLIC Sargent are an amazing organisation that help children who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families to cope. It provides important emotional, practical and financial support services for kids and young people being treated or in recovery.

Maggie's - Maggie's Centres are found in England, as well as all over the UK, and they provide a safe haven for cancer sufferers and their relatives, whether that be for a chat or important emotional support.

Homeless Charities

Homelessness is a growing concern in the UK, especially in big towns and cities in England. Fortunately, there are many wonderful organisations who offer safe accommodation, welfare services and employment training opportunities.

Crisis - Crisis is one of the UK's largest homeless charities that manages to assist over 10,000 people a year with their housing, education, employment, health and welfare support services.

Depaul UK - Founded in London in 1989, Depaul UK specifically tries to aid young people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming so, with its various support programmes and crisis accommodation.

The Trussell Trust Foodbanks - A nationwide charity that has dozens of foodbanks that provide three days of emergency food to people who are homeless or living in poverty.

Children's Charities

Children are the most vulnerable members of our society and they all deserve a shot at a bright future. Many of England's children's charities work to improve the lives of kids who have been abused, neglected or are living with a disability.

Save the Children - This globally renowned charity not only helps underprivileged or mistreated kids living in the UK but also those living in poverty or war-torn countries abroad.
