Three lucky residents from a street in Basildon are celebrating after winning a combined £100,000 thanks to their postcode!
SS14 2RA was drawn as a winner of a People's Postcode Lottery's Saturday Street Prize this weekend.
£50,000 winner Barbara Childs was left speechless by her amazing win. "I can't believe I've won – I never win anything," she said. "I really am gobsmacked. I play with two tickets and I'll carry on playing."
It wasn't just Barbara picking up a big cheque. Self-employed carpenter Stephen Foley won £25,000. Although he spends much of his time improving other people's houses, he says this win will give him a chance to do work on his own home.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it feels amazing to win this amount of money. I signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery because I believed the odds of winning were better and this win has proved me right.
"This will definitely improve my life and my home. I really need a new bathroom and this will pay for that. It would be nice to go on holiday too."
Mother-of-three Maxine Clifford also picked up £25,000. She said, "I just got back from a holiday in Greece when I found out I'd won People's Postcode Lottery, so it was a nice surprise to come home to.
"I'll be helping out the family and treating myself to another holiday. I'd also like to donate money to a local autism charity.
"This is something I wasn't expecting, but I'll use the money to help others too."
This is not the first time there have been winners in Basildon. Players shared a £2 Million prize pot in November 2014 in the Postcode Millions draw.
To date, players have raised more than £148 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
Projects supported near Basildon include Frypa Rascals Pre-School, which received £4,000 for outdoor garden area equipment and refurbishment, plus child -sized indoor furniture.
Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier said, "I really enjoyed meeting the Basildon players, and deserving winners they all are. I'd love to visit you at your postcode, so sign up to play to be in with a chance of winning and maybe I'll be knocking your door next."
Players in Cross Green were also pleased this weekend, as postcode LS9 0DG was drawn as another Saturday Street Prize winner.
