Marvellous Win For Melbourn

17 November 2019 - SG8 6HS - Melbourn - £30,000

Five neighbours in Melbourn were celebrating today after their postcode, SG8 6HS, won this week's Sunday Street Prize. Four of the Norgetts Lane residents landed £30,000 cheques, while the fifth doubled their prize to £60,000 due to playing with two tickets.

Tea In NYC

Lucky winner Nicola was thrilled when she received her £30,000 cheque. She said, "I'm over the moon, it's such a big help for me as it's only me and my daughters. It's going to make such a difference for us."

Nicola said she already had plans on what to do with her winnings as well, she and her two daughters are going on a holiday. She said, "We're going to New York and we're going to get afternoon tea at Macy's."

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have helped provide funding to over 6,500 good causes to date which is one of the reasons why Nicola decided to play. She said, "I've been playing since it started. There are quite a few charities that are close to my heart."

Coach Holiday

Julia, a retired carer, was another lucky £30,000 winner. Julia and her husband, Stephen, are going to put the money towards a holiday next year. Julia said, "We're going to take a coach holiday to Scotland with some friends as we've never been before. We want to visit Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, lots of places!

"I'm also going to share some of the win with my son Paul and his partner. My husband was ill last year, and they were so good to us. They made sure we were okay every single day so this is a way to pay them back."

As our other three winners weren't available to receive their cheques in person, their prize money will be paid directly into their bank accounts.

Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier was in Melbourn to hand out our golden envelopes. He said, "I had a lovely day meeting both Nicola and Julia and hearing about their holiday plans. I hope Nicola makes the most of the Big Apple and Julia has fun looking for Nessie. A big congratulations to our other winners that we didn't get to see today too."

Charities And Good Causes

Lucky winners aren't the only ones who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, our amazing players have raised over £486 Million for deserving causes to date.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Unicef UK, which has received more than £6.8 Million in player funding to help keep children across the world safe when war or disaster strikes.

Local projects have also benefited thanks to player support. Last year, North Hertfordshire Minority Ethnic Forum received £10,174 to set up a health and wellbeing project for vulnerable women who are at risk and suffering from various health problems.
