Riches Won In Royton

It is a spectacular Sunday for five lucky Royton residents, as they have each scooped £30,000 thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. The windfall came for the Shaw Road neighbours after their postcode, OL2 6HA, was drawn as a winner of our Street Prize.

In Shock

Lucky player Louise, who is head of HR at a cash-and-carry, was with her husband David when she was presented with her cheque for £30,000. She said, "I didn't know how much to expect but it definitely wasn't this much! I was in shock but it's starting to sink in a bit now. It was such a lovely surprise."

Louise and David are due to move to a new house in a week, so the win has come at a handy time. Louise said, "Our rainy-day pot has been drained as we are moving house soon, so this will really help with getting everything sorted. I don't know if we should even move now as this postcode is clearly very lucky!"

It's not all about the move though. Louise will be treating herself and David too. She added, "I'm fond of designer handbags so I might treat myself to a Mulberry handbag - why not! We will definitely be taking a holiday somewhere hot. David has always wanted to visit the Dominican Republic and there's no excuse not to go now."

Too Good To Be True

Neighbour Joanne was another lucky winner of £30,000. She couldn't quite believe she had won, even when the Street Prize team showed up at her door! Joanne exclaimed, "I don't think I quite believed it was really happening until I was presented with the cheque - it's too good to be true!"

Working as a cleaner, a carer, and in a doctor's surgery, the win will allow Joanne a well-deserved treat for her birthday next week. Joanne said, "I haven't had my hair cut in ages! It sounds so simple but I can't wait to have a nice day at the hairdressers. With my birthday coming up I'll probably have people round for a barbeque. I don't drink but I'll have to buy some champagne for everyone else now!"

Joanne and her husband Martin have three children, Bethany, Amber and Hudson, who they will be helping out with the prize money. Joanne added, "Amber has a school trip coming up to New York and I wasn't sure if she could go, but this means she won't have to miss out. With Bethany going back to university soon I'm sure she won't have much trouble spending some of the cash!"

Over The Moon

Prize winner Ronald was over the moon when he received his cheque, as was his daughter Laura who cheered him on as all the zeros were revealed. He said, "It's hard to explain how I feel, but I'm definitely excited! I have no idea what I will do with the money yet!"

Presenting the winners with their cheques was Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier. He said, "What a great day it's been meeting the winners and handing out some big cheques - I think the sun came out especially for the occasion! It sounds like they're all going to enjoy spending their prize money and treat themselves to something nice."

The two remaining winners couldn't be there to collect their cheques, but the prize money will be paid directly to their bank accounts. 

Projects Across Great Britain

32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. To date, players have raised £427 Million for thousands of deserving projects across Great Britain and internationally.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Crisis, which has received over £3.2 Million thanks to player support. The charity is dedicated to ending homelessness and believes that everybody in Britain should have a safe and secure place to live.

Local charities benefit from player support too. Last year SPOONS was awarded £7,000 to hold weekly support groups for parents who have babies in the neonatal intensive care unit, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness as parents can share their experiences of having a sick or premature child.
