21 May - NE13 7BU - Hazlerigg - £30,000

Hooray For Hazlerigg

One lucky Hazlerigg resident got a very exciting visit this weekend when Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt arrived at his door with a cheque for £60,000.

The postcode NE13 7BU was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize. Howard Ruderman from Windt Street received £30,000 for each of the two tickets he plays with.

Howard is delighted with the win. "I'm absolutely over the moon – it feels like a dream! I've had some health problems recently, so it's come at a very useful time. It's my silver wedding anniversary later this year, so my wife Claire and I will be able to do something extra special to celebrate now.

"The reason I originally signed up is because of the support that goes to charities with the money, so it's amazing that I've actually won too."

Judie said, "I'm thrilled for Howard for his win – and of course for his wife Claire too. He was so surprised when I pulled the cheque out of the envelope!"

To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £197 Million for more than 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A local charity that has received support from players is The Percy Hedley Foundation, which was awarded £20,000 last year to develop a sensory suite for children with cerebral palsy and autism.

There were also some smiling faces in Lapford this weekend, as EX17 6AF was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
