The weekend is off to a great start for five neighbours in Birmingham after scooping a share of £150,000. The lucky players received the good news after their postcode, B14 6PT, was announced as a winner of today's #30KADAY Street Prize.
Each day in January's draws, right up until 5th February, every player in a winning postcode collects a £30,000 cheque for each ticket they play with.
An Emotional Win
One of our winners was Neville, who discovered how much he'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt. Seeing his prize, Neville said, "Oh my God, Jesus Christ almighty. That is amazing, absolutely amazing. I never thought that would happen. You've brought me to tears."
Neville, a retired plumbing and heating engineer, thought it was a prank when he first received a call from us. He said, "I thought it was a wind-up to be honest, I thought it was a pal of mine having me on. I'm gobsmacked, it's got me quite emotional."
Asked how he'd spend his windfall, Neville said, "I'll probably get my son and daughter something," before joking, "but I might keep it a secret because they'll be tapping my shoulder asking me to open my wallet! I'd love to book a holiday to Greece too, in a big five-star hotel. But we've got some friends in Canada, so I might book a flight when we can and surprise them at their door!"
Neville plans to celebrate his good fortune with his wife Linda. He said, "It's a pity I can't take the family for a big slap-up meal just now but I'll have a nice big glass of Courvoisier tonight."
Asked to sum up how he felt, Neville exclaimed, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"
After the video call Judie sent her congratulations and said, "Good news is in short supply just now so it was my pleasure to deliver some to Neville. I'm chuffed for him and our other lucky players in Birmingham. I hope they enjoy their prize!"
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Justice Trust which supports charities and good causes that are inspiring communities to improve their lives through education, health, conflict resolution, community development or participation in sports.
