With ever increasing rates of obesity, stress and declining mental health in the UK, Canal & River Trust is uniquely placed to make a significant contribution to improving the wellbeing of millions of people. Their canals and rivers run through some of the most heavily populated communities in England and Wales, providing accessible green and blue space where its needed the most.

That's why Canal & River Trust is working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. They know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions.

With over £5.8 Million in funding received to date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have supported a range of important projects, from the 2018 makeover of the Marple Aqueduct and Lock Flight to the Trust's community outreach programme Community Roots which is launching on a new national level in 2019 thanks to £500,000 support from our players.

Richard Parry, CEO at Canal & River Trust, said, "We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of People's Postcode Lottery which has enabled us to fund a range of vital projects, helping to realise our vision of living waterways that transform places and enrich lives."
